I got my way, but not the puppy

The third puppy was an impulse wish, so things may change yet again, but for now--I don't think I'm getting Legolas (Lego).

Friends were uniformly supportive in their encouragement. To Big A's caution that three puppies might be excessive, LV scoffed that SIX might SEEM excessive, but not three. That still makes me laugh.

Big A, At, and Nu came around. (My mom used to say that I like to test people who love me. That sounds awful, and I probably do. But I don't think I was yearning for a puppy to test them.)

Ultimately, it was another family member who changed my mind. We had a lot of visitors last week, and I noticed Max is a bit shy and seems to need his mama more than Huck or Scout did. He's usually rambunctious, so this public persona is a bit surprising. It made me feel like he's still a baby and needs more time as the baby of the family.

Pic: Baker Woods with L. It was an explosion of green the moment I stepped in. So different from two months ago when I was last there with Lisa.

You'll all know when the right time is, and now that the family is on board, it's just a matter of being sure Max is good with it. There will be other litters, other adorables. The woodlot looks so lush!

Take care.

What a gorgeous place! I can almost smell that green.

LV's comment about six puppies reminds me of my late friend Ann's justification for splurging on anything. She would say, "It's not like I'm/you're buying a $10,000 diamond necklace!" With that standard, almost anything seems reasonable.

It sounds like you made the right decision for now. I know for a fact I could never get another puppy. For one thing, I'm really a one-dog-at-a-time gal, but for another, I don't think Rex would like the scattered attention! I felt that way about Barkley too. Maybe later when Max is older, things will feel different, but it sounds like you made the right decision right now.

Wow, it looks so different from when we were there in late April and things were just starting to leaf out! One upside to all the rain is how green and lush everything is! I would still like less rain, though! :P

I think it makes sense to hold off on adding a 3rd to give Max more time to be the baby. Granted, I was 7 years old when my little sister came around and I was NOT HAPPY to relinquish my role as baby of the family! Ha.
