Last year, Big A had a recurrent dream where Scout was accompanying him to a bunch of classes at Kalamazoo, his old undergraduate campus. In one dream, it was a poetry class where the instructor had displayed some of their published works on the desk at the front of the class. A can't remember the titles, but the poet's name was P.F. Chang--like the Asian restaurant chain. I wonder if Big A was thinking of Victoria Chang but was also a bit hungry?

I've been hearing this catchy Telugu film song on a number of reels and wanted to download it for my playlist. The song is about how the heroine is plagued by carnal feelings for the hero--"vochundai feelings-su" (I get these feelings). So I searched "Feelings" on I-Tunes, and nope, nothing. Turns out it's spelled "Peelings"--all the better to express the way it might be pronounced with emphasis in Telugu, I guess? Not really a word with a sultry vibe for me, however--it makes me think of dinner prep... or a skin condition.

I cannot EVEN with how much I love this whole thing! First of all, a haiku! I hope they are structuring it properly. Second, lolololol about being a bit hungry. Third - PEELINGS! This reminds me that only about two years ago did I realize that the lyrics were "I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo" I thought it was "I'm a creep, I'm a winner" and I always thought, that makes no sense.
Funny
That is funny, the system being called haiku. I'd be tempted to do them in haiku, at least once.
"Bending meaning" for sure! All three of these are funny. I'm laughing at "PF Chang," the poet. Is the internal messaging system actually spelled "haiku?" Why is it called that? It is charming. And yes- "Peelings" makes me think of dinner prep.
I would desperately try to send all my messages in 5/7/5 format if that was the name of the system. I mean...it's the right thing to do.
I'm with Jenny--I need to know if it's spelled the same way, and if so, how dare they steal the term? That is an Outrage. How can we protest? force them to use 5-7-5? (Yes, Engie!)
IS NOTHING SACRED ?!?!?!?!
Wow, that was a choice to use haiku for an internal secure messaging system! It does sound very charming and whimsical. "Send me a haiku" sounds pretty delightful.
The PF Chang thing is funny!! And I agree about peeling... In fact, when I saw the hard surgeon on Christmas Eve, she started to explain the procedure and said "we'll peel back the skin..." and then just kind of turned off my ears. I am very very sturdy about medical procedures since my mom is a former nurse. But that phrase about peeling back the skin was a bridge too far for me to ponder/visualize so I decided to not ask questions or listen carefully as she discussed the procedure with the fellow in the room.
Room 2 dead; your turn
To call the code. Want coffee?
I’m going downstairs.
So many creeps are winner these days, Nicole--I'm not surprised by that lyric confusion 😛
:)
StephLove, Nu and I were daring A to do it!
Jenny no idea why--Silicon Valley bros routinely take words and use them their apps, I guess? It is spelled "haiku" and it's not an acronym or anything...
Nu and I were daring A to do it, Engie. I'll keep you posted if he actually does.
Nance--it's so sacrilegious! (It IS spelled exactly the same way and it is not a clever acronym for anything. It seems so gratuitous...)
Aw, Lisa--I'm glad you chose to disengage if that was uncomfortable for you. An uncle had a show on TV--he was a doctor and one of my early memories is of him peeling the scalp off a cadaver to expose the brain. Your anecdote took me back!
😻 oh so good!! Sharing this with A!!
