Big A and I worked on dredging the pond all day and he thinks (correctly) that we should let things dry before we repair, but I want to just go ahead and refill it up already.
I typed up a response to the Whistler text book club after dinner, but it seemed too late to text. I'm mentally hopping from foot to foot, waiting for it to be mid morning so we can unpack more delicious details.
The mango pickle I started (based on memories and vibes of my grandmother's) needs time to cure, but I keep opening the jar for just a little sniff.
The submissions to the project with EM are beginning to come in, and I love everything and just want to tell every author their submission is accepted although that won't be feasible.
Pic: Max adores Nu. I mean, he loves watermelon, but Nu, he just worships.

I can totally understand all of this! Oh, Whistler. That especially. What a book!
Nice.
I work on my Patience EVERY SINGLE DAY. It is not--and never has been--my Virtue.
If I tried to pickle mangoes, it would never happen. That is my alltime favourite fruit, and I'd just eat all the chunks before they went into the jar. I do have about 2 qts. of little cucumbers that I'm pickling this week, mainly for my sister.
How you must miss your pond! I hope repairs are not too worky or complicated and that you soon have it up and running again.
I am short on patience as well! You do not at all strike me as an impatient person, though! You put off such a zen vibe!
That photo makes my heart sing. It's so hard to know with the pond -- I can see why you want it filled now, though. Just to reclaim some sense of normalcy after the storm. What a beautiful place to dine outdoors!
I also am very impatient. I would want the pond to be refilled and feel normal, especially since you JUST had the beautiful blossom before the storm. But letting it dry entirely is probably wise.
I love the photo of Max adoring Nu! Magic.
I love when you keep thinking about a book long after you've finished it... Catherine Newman talked about it today too!
Thanks, Nance! How nice that you're pickling FOR your sister!
Do you like green (unripe) mangoes?! That's what this pickle uses.
Oh, Lisa! I had to laugh when I read your comment. I think it is your niceness that makes it seem so. I like to cook, but never cook at anything but high heat for the most part, that's how bad it is :).
Jeanie, I love how you are a cat person but have so much affection for Max and Huck <3!
Yes, I just want things to go back to normal...
J, Yes... I think I might have jinxed it. Poor water lily... waa waa (that sounded funny in my head).
I've never tried them. I'm interested in your pickles!
Good luck with the pond and the pickles.
I'll find a recipe that isn't vibes :D
Thanks, Steph... One smells bad, the other smells nice :)
Patience! It's a hard virtue.
I need to read Whistler and I am really looking forward to it!
