even as a world we knew is ending
in the fullness of indifference
a new year is beginning
another time will soon need assembly
we'll plot, field plans, while you
look down from a photograph
your smile tells me that it's ok to let
my guard down even after god
let you down...
in the brightness of believing in you
I search in the silence and hear
susurrance as a yes

Oh, that second stanza!
And did you do this on purpose: each first line of the poem, when read one after the other, makes a beautiful short poem all on its own.
Honestly, you amaze me.
This is beautiful -- and so affirming. I loved it all but this really got to me: "another time will soon need assembly
we'll plot, field plans, while you
look down from a photograph"
Nice
Goodness, you are so talented. This gave me chills in the best way.
I like the idea of of assembling the day.
Gorgeous!! You are so talented. I like the idea of your mama looking down at you through a photograph.
YOU amaze me, Nance... I wish I could say I did that on purpose!
