2022 was euphoric. It felt full of possibility... like things were at the tipping point. Governor Gretchen Whitmer wrote At a letter; there were articles about At in Slate, Labor Notes, Jacobin, The Washington Post, NPR and on and on; Bernie Sanders tweeted their win; Michael Moore dropped At's name; and then... two+ years of stagnation. I keep telling At that this still counts for so much and that they've made a difference. And I 100% believe all of it. I hope that with today's closure, At is able to find the next thing to get fired up about and that peace and success follow. (Between this disappointment and the recent personal tsunami, what a sad year it has been for my first-born.)
Pic: At's repost today from 2022: "at the first ever shift at the first ever unionized chipotle reading about some nerd." (The nerd they're reading about is themselves in The Washington Post. Also, the 14K likes on that tweet!) Normally, I wouldn't post a pre-transition picture, but since At shared this one publicly today, I guess it's ok.

I know it's been a sad year for At but I think that she should still be so proud. And I know you are proud as well! It's not easy to work towards change - the roadblocks are often insurmountable. But the effort and work is there and so important.
Best of luck.
I appreciate At’s efforts and firmly believe, as MLK said, the arc of justice is long. But if we don’t push it to bend who will?! Brava to At!!

At is part of the solution and not the problem. What Steph said is important to remember.
I'm sorry this campaign didn't bear fruit (yet), but maybe it will pave the way for another one that will. Mixed metaphors, I know, but I hope you know what I mean. Kudos to At and I wish her well in whatever comes next.
It's so disappointing that, like StephLove said, the campaign didn't bear fruit yet, but it is still amazing what they accomplished!! I can't wait to see what they do next.
At has so much for which to be proud. Yes, not everything comes out in the end. But who says the end is now? Maybe this is just a super-bump. I am in awe of the commitment and the power that evolved from that commitment. It's been one grim year for them, but sometimes you have to say "where can we go but up?" I eagerly await the next thing that pushes all the right buttons and brings that spirit to the forefront again!
At has done some really good work, and I hope they acknowledge that about themself. As so many have said, the arc of history is long. I have to believe that in the long run, things will improve. I’m glad they are so strong.
Yes, frustrating for sure- but the real Testament to At's chracter is that they're not giving up. Yes, find the next thing to get fired up about. i know it's been a hard year- good luck for the next venture and hugs and best wishes to At.
You know so much of this Nicole; thank you.
Thank you!
Thank you, Steph. So much love for all that younger people like you are doing every day <3
Thank you, Nance; as always you give me soemthing to hold on to.
Like Havel, doing it because it's right and not because we always win... Thank you, Steph--you lead by example <3
Thank you, Lisa <3
I'm going to share this whole comment with At, Jeanie. Thank you for this! As WKAR plays in the background, I have to think this is the spirit that keeps public radio on the air, no? Love and solidarity!
I needed this optimism today myself, J; thanks so much for coming through <3
Teared up a bit from all this kindness from a fellow mom; thank you, Jenny.
