I'm still finishing up some last-minute chores. I guess I could do them after they get here, but then they'd want to help... and they don't know how to do things as they have a lot of domestic help. I don't want to make them travel all this way to do housework!
Big A sweetly tried to reassure me that everything would get done, and I snapped at him that I was aware of that as I was doing it all myself. Poor Big A, trying to be helpful. And poor me, so irritable.
Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Rand Paul of Kentucky are voting with democrats to block Trump's horrible spending bill... keep up the pressure!!
Pic: Lansing Pride was lit this year, so many people!

Let me just say that I share your frustration when Certain People think they are being helpful when, in fact, they are simply calling attention to the fact that they Are Not.
I would LOVE someday to stop being the Project Manager Of Everything whilst others get to Just Help.
After I tell them what to do because they cannot see for themselves.
ANYWAY! Your mom and sister are almost there! What a joy!
Funny.
OMG they'll be here tomorrow! Yay! I'm so excited for you and also, whew, I get it. There is always so much to do! I always feel like a real see you next Tuesday when people want to help because a) they're guests, I don't want them to help, and b) sometimes I don't LIKE how they help.
Maya! Ben says that too. He's like oh it's fine, and I am like I KNOW THAT BECAUSE I AM MAKING IT FINE.
How exciting that your mom and sister will be there soon!! Have the best time! I hope you get everything done so you can really enjoy your time with them no to dos hanging over your head!!
I'm commenting on Sunday so "tomorrow" is today!!! I hope they made it safely. And I hope you got everything done so you can relax and enjoy your family : )
I never thought I'd say "well done" to those two Senators but I hope they hold. Tillis said he wouldn't run again as he was to be primaried. On a happier note, I'm thrilled your mom and sister arrive tomorrow. It will be 100 percent wonderful!
Ha! I love that women get this subtext!!
:)
Hahaha on that last point! (Your secret is safe with me--and the internet!)
Sarah--I laughed so much at this. It's going in my snark bank.
Thanks, Lisa. I decided to let some things go at the last minute. That was one of my best ideas, frankly.
Thanks, Jenny! They got in safely. We talked about how we never talked about the airplane crash that happened right after their tickets were booked! I'm so happy all went well.
Thanks, Jeanie. I'm so grateful for every shred of decency these days. And I'm so happy and grateful for time with family. 100% :)! I'll happily take that or anything approaching that! XOXO
I've been thinking about Tillis holding his ground even if it means not running for re-election and thinking it's:
1) Good because it gives other people an example of courage.
2) Bad because it show how great the price of integrity is for Republicans these days, which could discourage anyone feeling a twinge of conscience and thinking of following his example.
3) Good because NC is a swing state (if more a reddish purple) so maybe there's at least a small chance we could pick up a seat in the Senate.
