for Nance
there are so few ceremonies
in absence
I fall asleep in this shade and know
this is no mean season
it is a season of faith, of falling haptic
and helpless into hope
knowing we'll not run out of time
or light until nine or ten,
so there is time to see the world as entry
...as a luminous archive
to take turns at impossible gifts, escapes,
and knowing
there are so few ceremonies
in absence
I fall asleep in this shade and know
this is no mean season
it is a season of faith, of falling haptic
and helpless into hope
knowing we'll not run out of time
or light until nine or ten,
so there is time to see the world as entry
...as a luminous archive
to take turns at impossible gifts, escapes,
and knowing
that even if we haven't seen gods by now
we've surely seen angels
we've surely seen angels

Note: The title comes from Nance's comment yesterday. I was a bit dismayed the poem came out with some religious motifs as Nance is agnostic, but I comforted myself by reminding myself that I know she believes in Nature.

Nice.
Oh, maya.
Thank you.
This is such a precious and perfect gift. The world really is a luminous archive--what an incredible metaphor.
This poem is my whole philosophy. I love it. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much.
I'm also agnostic, but did not interpret yesterday's poem as religious. This one is beautiful as well! I definitely believe in Nature.
It is a good title.
Love this one and how it conveys a sense of not being rushed! I love the longer hours of daylight during this time of year!!
I am NOT agnostic but I didn't get any religious overtones yesterday. But maybe that's because I believe in higher powers, etc. This poem is beautiful, Maya!
Thanks!
Oh, Nance... Thank YOU! Sometimes, daily poems are just a mood, but I think this one inspired by you can stand alone.
I'm so, so happy you like it!! XOXO
I love all your movement in Nature pics, Jenny.
(My writing was clumsy--I meant *today's* poem with its ceremonies, gods, angels, etc. had religious motifs.)
All thanks are due to Nance!
Right?!?! I looked outside at nine and felt like the day didn't have to be over :)!
Thank you, Nicole :)!!
(It was today's poem--ceremonies, gods, angels--that seemed to lean towards the religious, for me... not yesterday's. I was writing in a hurry and didn't make it clear. sorry about the confusion!!)
Of course, but you saw the poetry in it.
