from A(ssiduous) to Z(en)

Just a few busy weeks to the end of the semester... Research meetings, a workshopping forum, a town hall, and a standing committee meeting crowded this non teaching day. Then I went home for dinner, and hosted our Women's History Month keynote speaker online. There were two Zoom mishaps and I dropped my laptop on my face and now have a swollen lip (what a klutz!!).

After the talk, I skipped off to trivia night where Big A, EM, SD, AH, and DV were doing great without me. The only question I could have helped them get was about Claudette Colvin. We ended up placing third in a tie-breaker.

Nu's coming to my classes with me tomorrow. Talk about observation anxiety... I better get to sleep.

Pic: Ooops! I didn't take any pictures today, but this is yesterday's sunrise just as I got to work. I took it from the top of the stairs to the theater building. All golden and zen.

Logistically I'm wondering HOW you dropped your laptop on your face? Were you lying down? I guess that's the only explanation.
Good luck today!!!

I had never heard of Claudette Colvin, but now I know all about her! She sounds like an amazing person, and it's interesting that Rosa Parks has gotten all the credit for the bus boycott and de-segregation. Anyway... good luck today!

Have fun with Nu in class today. Any reason for the visit?

Oh, and I hope the swelling goes down soon!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is a klutz. I swear I'm always finding random bruises that I have no recollection of getting. Probably just the one of the downfalls of the work I do. I hope everything goes with with Nu observing your classroom!

Golden and Zen, I love it. April 24th is Bring Your Child To Work Day so my kids will be coming to my school. R's second time and L's third time, since she is older. I look forward to it every year :)

Thanks, Jenny!

Thanks, Steph. As you've probably figured out by now, it was the drag show that was the real draw. And the swelling is going down, thank you.

Thank you. The pressure was on, but I forgot they were there once class started :). Are you the cabinetry expert?

Daria--Yes, I loved taking my kids to school and was lucky to be able to do it when they were sick or had a school day off. I bet your students and colleagues love meeting your kids!

No need for a collagen lip fill for you!

I always loved having my sons in my classroom. They both served as my teacher's aide one period a day for years. And they were members of my creative writing club and magazine staff, too. I think it's important for kids to see their parents as professionals, and to understand what their life outside of parenting is like.

Nance, LOLOL Extra lols because that's exactly what I thought, too--that I know knew how I would look with lip filler. All healed now, BTW.

Thanks for the flashback to the younger J and S days. I really loved those days too... sigh.
