Pongal Sonnet

I've come such a long way
... north  I   now  celebrate
this  Pongal  in  the   snow
all  of  us  have  journeys
I   suppose, we're all  from
somewhere else as we know

like daffodils, not even Hindu
still, here they are, little suns
intimate on the offering plate
with the shakarapongal where
they  relate a welcome  flight
through pressure, sludge, ice--
bright in the salute and shatter
of our  planet's  feral sunlight

The snow is beautiful! We got a layer of snow here as well over the weekend which makes the world a much more beautiful place. I prefer a layer of snow on the ground during our winters! I was touched by the line. All of us have journeys as well. Boy am I on one now!

Huck's ears!! Too cute.

I am jealous of your snow. I am probably jinxing it now and we'll get slammed, but I could use a layer of snow.

I get what you mean about snow as ground cover, Lisa. I think about your current journey a lot... hope it continues to go well!

I love the metaphor of daffodils as little suns, intimate. So perfect. I'll think of it every time I see them now, and honour their journey, too.

Huck is the picture of Joy itself. Great photo.

Thank you, Nance. I daresay, I'll be thinking of you kindly thinking of the daffodils too...
