Jan energy

Wrestled the Christmas tree down and did a deep clean of the house. Any remaining glitter will just have to be absorbed into the aesthetic. All the Christmas cookies, sweets, and treats have been finished off. Most back-to-school work has resumed.

We're basically in full-on January mode. "Ready" may not be the right word, but I'm certainly eager to get the year started.

Pic: Still delighted with last year's snow globe find... I didn't add any to the collection this year.

I finished Tale of the Dreamer's Son and I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING. I ended up flipping back to find foreshadowing moments (Hana, and then the "son drowning") and wow, what a book. Thanks for the recommendation!

We haven't taken any of the Christmas decorations down yet, other than the (correctly positioned) candy cane lights. Beth pulled those out of the ground, but left the more seasonally neutral (plain white and blue snowflake) lights up on the porch and trees. We usually leave them up all winter. I still need to tackle the living room. It's a big job now that I have my mom's Christmas village.
