An unusually long day at work today--12+ hours plus my commute. But it was the induction of the honorary students, so there was plenty to celebrate.
Before classes started, I was worried that discussions might fall flat as many students had emailed to say they were sick and would not be able to attend, but the smaller numbers made very meaningful conversations, actually. A very less is more vibe.
Graded the first round of papers and marked the student with an AI paper zero. I'm recovering still and didn't have to energy to take on a serious talk. But they emailed apropos of the zero, I guess, to come clean and ask for forgiveness and a second chance. Granted. Thank you for making it slightly less awkward!
