Just finished a ton of midterm grading. There was some reminiscing in the answers about funny moments in class like when someone thought the squiggly lines in a document were redactions (à la the Epstein Files) and awesome ones when the class got someone to change their mind.
When I write exams, I always worry if the instructions are clear. The only person who didn't get the assignment (as they say) was Big A. Huck has some troubling symptoms that could be a UTI (or something more serious). I went looking for reassurance... "It's not serious, right? It's just a UTI, right?" Big A: "Right. Or it could be bladder cancer." Facepalm. StraightLineFace. We have to collect more puppy pee for tests.
Off to the second half of the semester... summer (break) will be here in seven weeks.

Hoping for productive puppy pee collection, and that it’s nothing serious. Poor Huck! (Gentle hugs to you too.)
Well, at least you'll never have to worry he's sugarcoating something to spare your feelings.
Fingers crossed for Huck's lab results.
I think Big A and Rick will get on just fine! I hope everything goes well for Huck. A UTI is no fun, but there are worse alternatives. I'm opting for the UTI. Meanwhile, I love hearing about your class. I can imagine they just love you!
BIG A. NO. As they say, there's no need to rehearse for bad situations. Good grief! Good luck collecting the puppy pee, I have no idea how one would do that. I'm trying to imagine myself doing that with Rex and...eeeeeep I don't know how.
lolololol Steph
Wow. Nicole's maxim is now a new mantra for me. Brilliant.
Big A needs to work on his Maya-side manner. Best to focus on gathering that sample first; have fun with that.
Isn't it just the best when class discussions are positive and productive? I can tell your students feel safe and welcome in your company.
Big A sounds like Phil. He’s very straightforward and pragmatic and doesn’t sugar coat things often. I really hope it’s just a UTI! Chances are that is the case. Let’s not jump to conclusions, Big A! Take that doctor hat off!! :)
I am glad you’ve got a great group of students who value you!!
Thanks, J. Did I tell you the instrument the vet's office suggested we use is a ladle?
No doubt.
And thank you, Steph!!
Nicole--lol. I hope you never have to, but if you ever have to, I've compiled tips from friends (a ladle, belly massage, etc.)
That last part truly gave late-night grading glimmers of joy, Nance.
There goes any astrological theory then, right? (I think Phil is a Pisces like me?)
(And thank you, I hope so!)
Thank you, Jeanie... Ha--I look forward to that meetup!
Enjoy.
Thank you!
