to a bright timeline

Oh, 2026... thank you for getting my hopes up.

I got my first plant catalog in the mail--surely, it must mean Spring is coming? I bought myself some potted daffodils at Trader Joe's yesterday to pretend, anyway.

There was SUNSHINE and so many rainbows from my new rainbow maker.

And at the neighbors' open house today, I got to catch up and felt more like the social me than I've felt in a long time. (Last night, Big A was at work, Nu had friends over, and I rang in the new year with Max + Huck and family on the phone.)

Pic: Here's Max in freshly fallen snow. He's so delirious and zoom-y, that when I say I'm going to catch him, he runs TOWARDS me.

Well this was lovely to read! What a great start to the New Year, Maya! May it go on as it starts. Also, gorgeous photo. We have no snow which feels strange, but then again, it's nice not to be shovelling or worrying about the roads.

YES! This is the energy I need for this January! Clean slates and sunshine and zoomies all around!

It sounds like a lovely New Years, catching up. And I agree -- we have seen some reason to hope and I'm so glad you were able to share some as a good reminder! Happy New Year -- may it bring you some joy to override some of the sadness. And peace.

I love that your pup runs toward you to be caught! What a delight!

I ordered basil plants for my Click and Grow indoor greenhouse today. Watching them grow and smelling them once they leaf will bring me closer and closer to spring/summertime.

Thank you for this hopeful, sunshiny post today. I'm smiling, inside and out.

We have SO MUCH SNOW. And then under it, there's a layer of thick ice because we had freezing rain before all of this snow. I love the fresh look of snow but the roads have been awful this week as the new snow has been very fluffy and then it's been quite cold - yesterday's high was 9! But we had a fun indoor adventure w/ Paul at the science museum. And today after work I drive up to my parents to get Will and then we come back Saturday. You'll love this - one day my dad used their Ranger (kind of a larger ATV) to move snow after a snowstorm. Will went with him, snuggled up to him, and fell sound asleep! I know that just made my dads day as he loves snuggling! But Will have been more homesick than usual since Paul decided to come back and go to the care program (didn't want to miss a fun field trip to Nickelodeon universe at the MOA). It was a quieter week but I am ready to have all 4 of us under one roof again!

"Start as you mean to go on" is a lesson I learned early from _Little Women_ :)! Maybe just one snow storm for Rex?

Goodness, if there were two people saying his name, he'd go even more bonkers

Homegrown basil right now sounds divine. I'm celebrating that with you, Nance. I had to google "Click and Grow." That looks so cool!

Thanks, Steph!

True, Lisa...The fresh snow is so much nicer than the ice we have hiding as well. I'm sure you're missing the baby of the family by now... it WILL (ha!) be so cosy to have everyone back under the same roof. XO
