all the things

I managed to do all the things today:

I'm mostly packed (carry-on only for two weeks).

Took Nu to see Sinners again per request. (My THIRD time.)

Watered my zillion plants and asked them to stay happy and healthy until I return, please!

Decorated for At's birthday, got the cake photo-ready, and packed her presents.

At is 26!!! Celebrated with At, dropped presents off at her place and then went to dinner with At and friends.

Booked it early to go to the CASA gala. (I couldn't let them down...)

Came home and realized that I'd left the student health info and travel health insurance docs in my office AT WORK, so I  made a two-hour trip to retrieve them in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. This is the part I didn't plan for and could have done without.

Now I'm checked-in and waiting for Big A to drop me off at the airport when he wakes up.

Pic: FB reminded me that 15 years ago we hired a party bus to take At and a bunch of friends, cousins, and grandparents to a Dave and Busters to celebrate turning 11. (At and Nu corner right. How cute, chubby, and kind of portable! And Big A just beyond them... his hair!)

OMG is your office an hour away?? Yeeeeesh.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY AT!!!! I hope she had the most wonderful day, and best wishes for the year to come.
YES to carry-on only! It makes things so easy. I always think, if I need something desperately I can buy it at my destination! Also all my clothes look the same in photos, it's a benefit of always wearing black, and so does it matter if I take 4 black tops or 14?

Oh noooooooo a last-minute two-hour trip sounds very stressful! So glad you remembered the documents while you could do something about it. Hoping everything goes smoothly from here on out.

Nooooo!! You did not need that middle of the night trip to your office. The flashback photo of At’s 11th birthday is so cute! Wow how the kids have changed!

Have the best trip!!

I’ve never managed a 2 week carry on only…actually, I can barely do a 2 day carry on only. It’s not the clothes for me, it’s the skin care, makeup, contact lens, 3 hairbrushes, slippers, robe…SIGH. I’m a lot, I guess. I hope your trip goes really well and that you have a good time, get things done, have some time to yourself to do fun things.

That photo is too much! Look how happy!

Thank goodness you remembered those documents even though it meant that long drive at an inconvenient hour. Whew!

I had a feeling you'd attend the CASA event.

So! You've had your Trip Hiccup; now, smooth sailing ahead.

Happy Birthday At! And safe travels to you! I'm impressed with your two-week carryon luggage. I can't wait to hear all about it!

Oh, that middle night run to campus is NOT a fun thing -- but a good discovery BEFORE you left. You must be in flight now or soon. Bon voyage! I'll look forward to hearing all about it!

I'm glad you discovered the missing papers before it was too late, but two hours in the middle of the night...

Darling picture.

My commute is so long, Nicole! I was so worried about falling asleep at the wheel since it had already been such a jam-packed day!

What a great argument for capsule wardrobes!

Thanks, Suzanne. And I hope I don't have to *use* those health docs either. In that way, I don't mind if it was wasted effort.

Thanks, Lisa! Yes, my big kids were little once... nostalgic sigh.

Hey! If you're a high maintenance princess, more power to you! I had to laugh at "robe." Yeah, that would take up significant room!

Looking closer, I realized there are two sets of grandparents in that photo too. So, happy, and so happy to have lived that life once.

Thanks for the well wishes, Nance!

Thanks, Jeanie... you're kind of in my head actually because of all your England posts :)!!

True, Steph.

These old pictures are almost too much, sometimes!
