Pic: I did it! Last month, I hoped to get a picture of geese heading out in a "V" and seem to have managed it. (Not perfectly, but I'm counting it.)

That photo! It's darn near perfect.
Your poem--The first two stanzas had me settled in for a cadence and rhyme, and then the next ones followed neither. I had to set that expectation aside then and reread the whole thing.
I feel like there are some very big ideas for such a small poem, and I almost feel like there are two different poems here. I especially like the last two stanzas, and I wish each of the ideas were developed more.
Excellent V
Love the geese! Well, kind of. I find them terrifying in real life (Canada geese are VICIOUS) but I love seeing them flying.
Agree with Nicole. We went to an Indigenous-owned restaurant downtown that had Canada Goose on the menu and my husband said he'd eat one just to take it out of the population. But they do look inspiring flying high up.
Beautiful poem and photo! I agree geese can be kind of mean- but I like to see them up in the sky.
Nance--thanks so much! Looking at it after my nap and with the benefit of your comments, the rift between the stanzas was obvious. It's only a "mood/journal" poem, but even so, it was quite fragmented. I reedited and tried to get it to cohere more, but may have already lost the mood.
Thank you!
Thank you, Steph!
I love the idea of your husband dedicating himself to the task of ridding the world of Canada Geese one dinner at a time!
Thanks, Jenny! I'm quite terrified of them-- especially in packs. But they're nice when they're flying AWAY :)
They're ferocious here too, Nicole! Do you know why they're "Canada" geese?!? (Seems like I don't know any bellicose Canadians...)
