Yesterday at the baby shower (which I keep thinking of as the "party" for some reason and which it kind of turned into, I guess) a Cage The Elephant song started playing on the speakers and it really took me back to their high-energy concert... wait... was that just earlier THIS MONTH?!
Quick check--and yes, it was on the 10th. Anyway, I didn't do much today except water all my plants, clean, and make dinner. But by the end of lugging the vacuum around two floors, I noticed my ring finger seemed a bit stiff. It was still hurting at dinner, so Big A took a look.
He thought I should take my wedding ring off before it swelled up anymore. So I did. And it feels odd to be without it. I don't wear an engagement ring, and I don't take my wedding band off at work, at night, etc. (Neither does Big A, actually.) Or it would feel odd if my finger didn't hurt so much. I have no idea what might be going on. Am I allergic to vacuuming, maybe? Too old to vacuum?
Pic: Big A and me at the Cage the Elephant concert, glassily waiting for the auditorium to fill. We got there way too early and were stuck watching a country opening act whose name I've since forgotten. Except Big A called them "Winona Sugarbush" and that I do remember.

My finger swells occasionally too and I don't even know. I suspect too much cheese for me.
I leave my wedding and anniversary ring on all the time. Sometimes my fingers swell in the heat or if I've been drinking! But it doesn't sound like your problem, so let's call it vacuuming.
Get well soon
I take my ring off to shower, to swim, and sometimes to sleep. I hope your finger is back to its old self soon.
I can't wear rings ever because of my eczema and it makes me so sad. Hopefully you'll be able to put yours back on ASAP!
Ha. If only!
My diagnosis too :).
Thanks!
Thanks, Steph!
Thanks, Engie. I feel weird without it.
I haven't worn my wedding or engagement rings in forever. My skin is highly acidic, and the rhodium (the plating that makes white gold white) kept wearing off, exposing the yellow gold, to which I'm allergic. Finally, I just said forget it and have gone without. Rick had to anyway because he was working construction and it was too dangerous to wear a ring.
I hate inflammation like that. Usually when it happens to me, it's from exercise, but not always. I hope it goes away and doesn't bother you anymore.
Nance, It's funny the things we get used to... and then get unused to. In just a couple of days, I'm fine with not wearing my ring. So while I was reading your account, I felt bad for your allergy, but the rest sounds freeing, actually.
Thanks, J. It's the inexplicability of it that bothers me most, because I don't know how to prevent it. Probably just aging!
