Surprise Pizza!

We headed to Ohio this morning for Thanksgiving #2 with my lovely MIL. When we got there, we were a bit confused that all was calm and really relaxed with no signs or smells of cooking. Indeed, there were no signs of Thanksgiving at all.

So we hung out and chatted and ordered pizza when it was time for dinner and all was well. I'm kind of glad my MIL didn't have to go to all the trouble of starting a big meal all by herself.

Pic: Max and Huck have always been suspicious of the robot vacuum, and it didn't help matters that it seems to be making off with Nu's ukulele here.

Happy Thanksgiving #2. (Reminds me of the peanuts special in which they have two dinners, one traditional and the other less so.)

Hahaha the vacuum! I've had things like that happen with my own.
A surprise pizza! You know what, that's kind of refreshing. Especially after you had your own big meal!

I would also be simultaneously confused and happy that mother-in-law didn’t work too much. Hoping it was a peaceful (and pizza-full) time together. :) -Subway Steph

How refreshing! Good for your MIL. More time for visiting, and no frenzied solo cooking.

I love watching dogs react to robot vacs. Zydrunas is largely unimpressed by his until it hits his feet. Then he gets quite irritated, mainly because he has to move.

Ha, I love Steph's comment above- it does remind me of the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving! I think I would be happy to have pizza for Thanksgiving #2- who really wants two traditional Thanksgiving dinners in a row???

That was us :)

Absolutely, Nicole. It was a relief--for everyone.

It was delightful once we unperplexed ourselves, Steph :)

Zydrunas seems way more self-possessed than my two, Nance.

My MIL is amazing at "uncomplicating" complex stuff. She usually gives me a heads-up, but you know what--she doesn't have to.

Yup!

Jenny--Truly! Everyone was just preparing to settle down to second T-Day dinner to be polite, so pizza was really, really nice!

I've even had students named after Greek philosophers before, but oh--the thrill of hearing "Aristotle!" or "Chimera!...
