here and there

Back to work today; got lots done.

(And lots more to do... always lots more to do.)

What I'm not doing this month: Going to that conference in Egypt I was invited to.

What I am doing this month: Plotting a study trip to the U.K. in May. Panicking a bit that the exchange rate is not working in our favor. Calling in favors so my students can have a memorable time.

Pic: my birthday flowers are happy in the jungle tea garden.

It's always nice to have a trip planned and now you have a couple, even if you couldn't fit in the conference.

Do you find traveling abroad with students stressful? My husband has been asked to lead groups and he always turns it down (because he's a terrible traveler AND he's nervous about being in charge of so many students)!

Oooh your trip sounds great - although it's too bad you're going to miss Egypt!

Ooooh a study trip-- can you say more?

Study abroad is good.

StephLove--I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right! Yay! I do like looking forward to travel...

NGS--I've done it a couple of times, but it's nerve wracking for sure. I will have our Director of student affairs accompany me as a chaperone this time, so I can focus on the academic side. The part that terrifies me is the budget--I already miscalculated costs twice! In my personal life, I'd delegate this bit... but this is work, so I gotta be adult about it.

Nicole--Yes, I'm sad about Egypt. Seeing your pictures recently solidified my determination to go *sometime* though.

Gillian--Yes :).

My sister and I haven't shared a bedroom in thirty years.  On some level--I think--it makes us revert to feeling like kids. We hung out ...
