I really liked the focus on strengths rather than on perceived weaknesses and found myself agreeing with an assessment for perhaps the first time. My top five strengths (at this moment anyway) were "Learner, Achiever, Belief, Input, and Positivity." (Here's a quick reference to the 34 strengths.)
But as we learned at my table where there was another "Learner," the way we were described in our individual reports were very different because of the other strengths our Learner selves leaned into. My individual learner strengths combined with my positivity, achiever, belief, and input made me a very strong teacher. Yay!
I spent four hours with some terrific people exploring and learning to "name, claim, and aim" my strengths. I got to take the test for free through the college, but High5 and StrengthsProfile are said to be similar. I really want everyone I know to take the test.
I'm surprised Empathy wasn't in my top five...
And why is Creativity not listed as a strength at all?

Maybe they just need more than 5. I did one of these tests (no idea what it was) at a job in the late 90s, and yeah, it nailed me. I haven’t taken one since, so when people say they are a epigram this or a something else that (can’t even think of the others) I think, huh?
People reference enneagrams and MB all the time, and I just...can't. I did the MB test once and cannot for the life of me remember what the letters were or even what they mean. And the enneagrams, I could not be less interested (yes, I could, there are a lot of things less interesting but you know what I mean). But give me a ZODIAC. Well! Now we're talking! I would have been great at dating in the 70s because I think everyone's zodiac sign is indicative of every single aspect of their life. I am the ultimate Taurus! Capricorn rising, moon in Leo.
I agree with J, maybe five wasn't enough.
I had to take a test in middle school that was supposed to measure your potential for various careers. It said I should be a teacher of deaf children, which I thought was oddly specific. But it also ranked by creativity at 25% and I was crushed. I came home upset and my mother reminded me I was writing a novel.
The 25% percentile, I mean.
I remember doing something similar in some HR management courses I took and they were pretty on target. But it has been a long time since then. I might check this out!
I did this years ago and achieved and learned were 2 of my stengths! No wonder we were such fast friends. :) I adore personality frameworks even though I know many of them are not scientifically based. I feel most seen by my enneagram type (1). Phil doesn’t believe in them at all but he is a 5. I read an analysis of a 1 and 5 in a relationship and it was so very spot on.
I love all personality tests! Even the unscientific and culty ones. :) I find them fun!
In StrengthsFinder my top five are positivity, woo, communication, empathy, strategic.
I like your strengths! I think they are great assets to the work you do and the way you move about the world. ❤️

J, I think you're so right about the faddishness of this. There seems to be something every decade or so.
I do like the idea of each of us living life according to an epigram assigned to us!
I'm so into the zodiac too, Nicole! I'm Pisces and A is a Scorpio. Mom and Dad were earth signs (Taurus, Virgo)!
I think I may have taken a similar one in middle school, which was wildly off base, Steph. Did I take it wrong? It suggested that I should be a mail carrier, which is not a career path in India, and left everyone quite confused.
25th percentile for creativity?!? Clearly, that test was bunk.
This is the first one I've agreed with, Jeanie--definitely worth a try!
I'm not at all surprised we share two of our top five, Lisa! <3. And I daresay, stuff like input and belief are in your top ten. It's definitely how I see you. Your belief in people (as I read your comments on people's pages) was one of the many things that drew me to you!
What a great set of strengths and such a match for your work, Steph. Did you know "Woo" is one of the rarest? I'm not surprised to see you have it. I didn't have any "influence" strengths like "woo" and "communication." I feel like you have at least one from each quadrant!
