we are kneeling
at a cliff's edge
      in prayer 
      or defeat

rocks enthroned
trees congregate
      benumbed
      or tranquil

there you are born
dropping headfirst
      like a diver
      into life

your body, landscape
your cries a chorus
      all longing
      and love
