I went with people, but was still a bit nervous about being grabbed off the street and sent off to a jail somewhere. It's just that crazy out there these days or I'm just that crazy these days. Either way.
Just to make sure I looped in some joy, I hit the Farmer's Market and went to a graduation party as well.

I imagine you’ve seen the news about what happened in Minnesota yesterday. It was a very sad day for our state (a man posed as a cop and killed a state senator and her husband and shot another state senator and his wife). We were glued to the tv all day, watching the story unfold.
You had a great day! I was there too and had some apprehension before, so I can only imagine yours. But we went. We cheered and booed and chanted and it was a wonderful, energizing day!
You're not crazy. It' the times. And as a person of color, you probably have more to worry about in this respect than me. But I also think if something like what happened in L.A. happens again, they will go for another big city in a blue state. At least for now.
Wow you were brave to go. I would have been terrified, given the climate. I love no faux king way!
Take care.
I love the title of this post! My sister went to one of the protests and sent me photos of some GREAT signs. She was also a little anxious about what could happen (and sent me detailed instructions of how to take care of her cat in case she ended up in jail.) Glad it went well!
Lisa, I did not know in the morning, but I was devastated to hear later in the day. I'm so sorry. There are so many terrifying details--the cop impersonation, the orphaned kids, the fact that people who said so much about the Waymos burned in LA are so quiet now...
Energizing! Yes, Jeanie! It was certainly that!
Steph--Right? There have been cases where they haven't cared to determine residency or haven't cared even when citizenship has been established. No one is perfectly safe though, so I guess it's up to us. I'm in awe of how many protests you and Beth attend!
Nicole, I was terrified! (And I didn't stay very long.)
Thank you.
Ordinary people should not be worried about ending up in jail for protesting peacefully in a democracy! (The cat instructions made me smile, but also made me mad.) The signs and the chanting were the best part!
