And I hope At will have a good time at the wedding. It's her first big family gathering since transitioning. I don't expect anyone will be mean--everyone was simply lovely when we shared Nu's transition at another wedding, and there are other trans and non-binary kids in the family, but At might be the first trans woman. It's not a big reveal--I've had heart-to-hearts with my cousins about it + At and the kid cousins share social media, but there are bound to be people who will be finding out for the first time.
Pic: I caught sight of this pair of mallards in the pond this morning and was worried they might nest here, because I've done my reading. Baby ducklings would have been cute, but I wasn't sure if Max and Huck would be gentle with them, so I acted like a very noisy human and they decided to leave.

I really hope that all goes well at the wedding. Often people surprise me with how open and accepting they are, so I hope that is the case for At. Also, sheesh, I have been hearing about Newark and it sounds like such a mess. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!
Three worries is too many! I hope the travel goes smoothly. And I hope At has a good time- it sounds like a very open-minded group of people. Good luck with it and I can't wait to hear how it goes.
I hope all goes smoothly and that At is embraced with open arms. My niece is going through this as she prepares for her graduation party in June... many in my family are NOT accepting so my heart hurts for her.
Of course I hope all these worries are for naught. Certainly they're justified. And we never, ever stop being concerned for our children.
I'm glad that your kids are not setting precedent. It sounds like the family have been through similar situations already. Hopefully, everyone will remember that they are still very much themselves and love them as they always have (which is the way it should be).
*Our little pond is crystal clear and looks beautiful. Time for a lily or two and then some fish for Theo!
Safe travels and I hope the wedding is fun and the attention on the couple.
It must be tricky, knowing most people will be welcoming but worrying about potential unexploded bombs, because it's your baby. I hope it's wonderful, and the flying experience works out well (I hate flying, I'm always amazed when it turns out well).
All well so far, Nicole :)! My cousin said all the media scrutiny has made Newark much safer than other airports.
Omigosh, Jenny--I got at least 99 problems... But today has been smooth so far :) Thank you!
Thank you, Jeanie. That is so kind (and intuitive!) of you. xo
Thank you, Lisa. Literal open arms... it's such a relief to be in a welcoming space. I feel deeply for your niece. I'm so glad you're in her corner and hope your brother will find his way there soon.
Thank you.
And, Nance, I will make this request via email as well, but I would love a picture of Theo feeding fish. Ever since you mentioned putting in fish, that has become an image to the point that I've almost created a false memory of it!
Thanks, Steph! We're certainly tiny fry in the scheme of things!
Thank you, Allison! (It's a good thing you're not at the airport... you can't put "bombs" and "flying" so close together :D! )
I hope all goes well, including your flights at Newark, and most especially the family stuff. I love your little duck pond (I know, not a duck pond, the ducks left). We live in a townhome complex with a swimming pool, and sometimes ducks hang out, which doesn’t seem like a good idea with the chlorine. A couple of times there have been ducklings.
I guess your chlorine ducklings are not country ducklings!
Newark was a breeze, J! Hope we get back ok too.
