INDULGENCE

It’s always summer in my forest.

Trees stretch their arms awake
breath warm and loamy like earth.

Ideas hang like languorous monkeys
suspended lazily by a single limb--

Arm, leg--even tail--so alike
I can’t be bothered telling the difference.

Maddened by the chatter of falling water
I look at you and you and you

and I and I and I close my eyes
preparing to listen for a smile.

This was really beautiful. The imagery in the second stanza is what I enjoyed the most. How can you get anything done by being so relaxed?

Ganesh, thanks so much--your comment juxtaposed with your picture feels like blessing more than anything else :)

Also, i guess you've stumbled on my dirty little secret--sometimes things just don't get done. 'Cos it really is more fun to watch monkeys squabble.

Please do leave editorial suggestions if they occur to you--all my work is perpetually in progress.

my beautiful baby

It has been a year. Some days it feels like yesterday, some days it feels like a distant dream of love.     There have been tears every day...
